What inspires you? Humans. How creative, generous, courageous and resilient we can be.

 

Why do you love yoga? Yoga addresses the whole person: body, mind and spirit. The wisdom of the teachings of yoga are a guidance towards a more fulfilling life. In times of calm, it has reaffirmed and reminded. In times of tumult and challenge, it has redirected and supported.

 

What is alive for you right now? Practicing living one day at a time. Meeting myself and life in the moment. Learning to be ok with the here and now.

 

What are you listening to right now, music or podcasts? On Being is an inspirational podcast where people from diverse backgrounds and professions talk about their connections to the world and themselves.

 

If you could pass along a little wisdom what would it be? The source of wisdom is withinus- life is the journey of returning to this light.

 

What’s your favourite meal? My comfort food is the nourishment I grew up with, Korean food. It’s robust, spicy and delicious and satisfies everytime!

 

What’s your favorite book, essential oil, quote or all of the above and why? Mary Oliver, just passed from this life but her words will stay with us. This is one of her most striking questions: “Tell me what are you going to do with your one and precious life?” Her words remind me to not take anything for granted and to live with a grateful full heart.

 

When you’re not working/teaching in the studio, where can you be found? I live on a property that is surrounded by the forest. I’m either at home or at the river which is a few minutes walk away. My happy place is outside in nature, walking, hiking or just sitting.

 

How did you find yoga, pilates or barre? Yoga kept coming into my life through different people but I didn’t give it much notice. Then I went backpacking in India and came across the Autobiography of a Yogi by Yogananda Paramahansa. That got my attention. When I finally settled down in Vancouver, I joined a yoga class down the street and had the luck of finding an inspirational teacher. It’s been part of my life ever since.

 

What is your favourite thing about being a part of the Studio B Team? I feel incredibly grateful to be able to work with such a truly amazing group of women. The genuine friendships and support that we have is really a gift.
