Yoga Teachers

Our inspiring and well-balanced team is here to guide you through your different studio experiences.

Jolene Sharpe

Pilates Teacher

Jolene has been doing Pilates for the past 8 years. She received her Certification in 2009 from the Physical Mind Institute in Vancouver. They offer Mat and Standing Pilates Training from The Method Pilates, the original exercises from Joseph Pilates. Standing Pilates offers so much more body awareness, functionality, balance and increased bone density, it is a great addition to doing the traditional mat exercises.

Jolene lives in Chilliwack and enjoys running 1/2 marathons, soccer, and gardening. She sees the benefits Pilates has given her to be able to perform better in these activities and life in general.

The classes Jolene teaches in Chilliwack cater to many different age groups and abilities of clients. With half the class being Standing Pilates and the other half on The Mat, clients get a total body workout based on the fundamentals of Pilates. From group classes to one on one, Jolene thoroughly loves teaching and enjoys sharing the benefits of Pilates. “It’s all about strengthening your core and I believe there is a class and level for everyone.”

Monica McDowell

Yoga Teacher

Monica was first introduced to yoga ten years ago. After moving to Chilliwack she discovered Bikram Yoga, which remains part of her practice to this day. What began as primarily fitness evolved into a more holistic union of mind, body and soul, balancing her traditional type A personality with her gypsy spirit. She began to research and include Yoga Philosophy and Meditation in an effort to emotionally deal with unexpected changes in life. After being involved in a car accident, yoga became her primary physical therapy. These experiences set the stage for a desire to help others regain physical and emotional strength through their own yoga practice. This drew her back to the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii where she took her 200 hour yoga teacher training.

Monica was taught by many amazing teachers over the years, with the central theme being that ones practice extends beyond the studio and mat into every day life; as such, it is her intention to live yoga not just do yoga. Monica teaches Hatha Yoga with an Iyengar Flavour; her favorite classes to teach are Restorative and SUP Yoga.

Erika Arnold

Yoga Teacher

Erika’s journey with Yoga started as a way to work through her struggles with anxiety. In search of a more mindful and natural way to deal with the stress of anxiety she turned to yoga and fell in love with all it had to offer. Truly believing it helped her both mentally and physically. Erika immersed herself in the teachings and wisdom of Yoga and the energy that surrounds that community.

Wanting to share her passion and story, Erika took her 200RYT with Daniel Clement of Open Source Yoga in 2014 and continues to grow her knowledge from various workshops and teachers. Feeling so blessed for the opportunity to learn and grow from her students, Erika offers a variety of styles of Yoga, from slow and mindful, to flowing and dynamic channeling any opportunity to connect to a deeper self. When she isn’t on her mat you can find Erika spending time in nature, trying out new vegan recipes, or crafting.

Dee Monroe

Yoga Teacher

Dee Monroe is a Yoga Teacher newer to Chilliwack. She had been teaching Yoga in Windsor, Ontario at various venues for several years before she moved to the Fraser Valley. Her teacher training was with Karuna Erickson, (Heart Yoga), and All Bogard in Nelson, BC. Dee has been practicing yoga for 8 years and her focus is a Gentle Hatha style with emphasis on breath. Her philosophy is that ANYONE can benefit and DO yoga regardless of age, weight, flexibility, illness or disability. Her teaching caters to each individual student’s capability with a great regard to Ahimsa(the first universal principal of yoga)-do no harm. Dee enjoys teaching students of all ages and sharing her passion and love of Yoga and all its elements.

Dee has a degree in Sociology and Psychology from Bristol University in England, a Diploma in Criminology and she is a registered Reflexologist. She has a work background in volunteer management, community building and parenting skills. She is married and has 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.

Darlene Kee

Yoga Teacher

From the first class, Darlene knew that practicing Yoga would be part of her journey. She was drawn to Yoga for the sense of well-being it promoted. Over the years, Yoga has been a source of balancing mind, body and spirit. She received her 200 RYT teacher training through Open Source Yoga with Dan Clement in 2010. Her intention is to make yoga accessible and hopes students are inspired to carry the mind-body connection into other aspects of their lives.

Darlene comes to teaching with a humble heart and is grateful to be able to share this transformative practice with others. The practice of yoga has the power to give pause in our lives and remind us of that which is greater than our individual selves.

Laura Fox

Yoga Teacher

Laura began her Yoga journey in 2006 to help her chronic back pain and found Yoga very healing and strengthening physically. It was, however, the unexpected healing of her inner body that inspired her to step outside her comfort zone and share her passion of yoga with others. She hopes to encourage others to be authentic, loving and accepting of one’s self and have a little fun too! She has been very fortunate to have practiced under the guidance of many amazing teachers and became a 200RYT under Leanne Kitteridge at Shibui Yoga in 2014. Always a devoted student of yoga she is continually growing through her own practice and learning new things to share.

Carmen Neill

Yoga & Bar Fit Teacher

From a young age Carmen has had a passion for fitness and mindful living. She was born and raised in Chilliwack and has enjoyed outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking and cycling. These activities naturally led to a further education including a Diploma in Business Administration and a Degree in Kinesiology in the Fall 2015. Carmen has Certification in Fit Flow Yoga, Zumba and Barre. She has a passion for teaching and education on health and wellness and looks forward to sharing her knowledge.
